Dear Friends,
Thank you all so much for your support and votes. I am humbled by the fact that more than 2000 people felt that I would be a qualified representative. I had the greatest experience in my life running, and I will look forward to it again in 2011. We have achieved this past election year, more than has been achieved in years!!! Name recognition was achieved, and serious issues brought up. I am sure that the town board members have realized that there are some serious issues that were brought up, and I hope that they will legislate accordingly. In the meantime, I intend to keep the town citizens informed on the events and decisions of the town board. I think it is very important for each and every citizen to show up at a few meetings to let the members see that there are “voters” interested in a more fiscally responsible government.
Get involved! Make a difference!
Respectfully Yours,
Mordechai Rennert

Unreasonable Growth of Brighton Government

The current leadership of Brighton has served for 18 years. Over the past 18 years, Brighton's government has
grown by almost 26% after inflation.
I do not believe town services have expanded 26% and, if elected, I am committed to finding ways to roll back the cost of our town government while providing the same high level of services we expect.
Please join me at the Brighton Town Hall on October 14 and October 28 at 7:00pm. Let's let our
representatives know that we need accountability for how our tax money is spent.

One of my three campaign themes is Transparency in Brighton Government. Since July 22, the Town Board has held two
public meetings. At these meetings, serious discussions were held with several developers about large construction
projects involving most of the undeveloped land in Brighton. There were also discussions about a complete
redevelopment of the Tops Plaza on South Clinton Avenue.
These proposed projects could significantly affect the tax base and character of Brighton. However, the August 12
meeting time was changed with short notice and the September 9 meeting was not well publicized. The Town of Brighton has not released meeting minutes in almost two months.
If elected as a Town Board member, I pledge to publicize meetings. I pledge to have an open office to listen to all ideas and concerns. And I pledge to release minutes of meetings in a timely matter.

Three principles guide my campaign for Brighton Town Board:
- Fiscal Responsibility - Brighton must use our tax money efficiently. We should
use tax funds on projects that benefit our citizens the most and are
appropriate for the economic circumstances.
- Open Government - Brighton government must be transparent and the decision
making process open to everyone.
- Lower Property Taxes - Brighton's property taxes are among the highest in the
country. We can lower taxes by developing and implementing well thought
out, quality, plans for economic development.
Yes - we can have an efficient, open, government while cutting property taxes. And we can have
sustainable economic development while retaining the character and charm of our community. Please
join me to make it happen!

Welcome to my website. I have lived in Brighton since October 2006. Since moving in, my taxes have gone up significantly, and there has been no change in the services that are provided by the town. After talking with friends and neighbors, I realized that I am not alone! What is even more interesting is that our mutual feelings have nothing to do with a political bias or an ideological agenda. No one wants to pay higher taxes!
I am running for town board to help lower our taxes. I intend to review every department budget and get rid of the wasteful spending. I intend to have livelier debate and discourse at the public board meetings. I will hopefully be able to bring the concerns and requests from the citizenry to light, and the board will respond with effective legislation.
I look forward to your involvement in this election, and hopefully I will earn your vote!
